Glenis Willmott has received support from top European decision makers in her campaign for better information for disabled airline passengers, specifically those with a lung condition.
In response to a Written Parliamentary Question from Glenis, the European Commissioner for Transport has confirmed that airlines must give accurate information about the availability and the cost of supplementary oxygen on flights.
Glenis explained. “It had been brought to my attention by the British Lung Foundation that certain airlines did not display clear information on their website, while some even refused to provide an estimated cost of the oxygen until a reservation had been made and when the ticket was no longer refundable.”
“In their answer to my question, the Commission has made it clear that this information must be transparent and readily available. In addition, it is one of the things which they will be investigating later this year, when they review the present regulations relating to the rights of disabled travellers.”
“Once again, campaigners have been successful in using the European Union to take another step forward in ensuring decent treatment for the disabled.”
